Earlsfield fatality

Had a short journey to and from London today. A woman had been hit by a train at Earlsfield station and this has caused huge delays and cancellation of trains around most of the imp stations in London. Luckily I managed to get a train to So'ton but I had to go to Woking from Clapham Junction to get that train.

The delays for what from 20 mins had become hours and the train stations (especially CLJ) were very overcrowded and the passengers' faces in total upset. The fact that there were little information on the revised times of the trains and incorrect information being relayed were enough to make people worried. But I guess, there is hardly a way to overcome this incident without all these inconveniences and confusions. Even those platform staff couldn't be much clear about any info. I have seen people crying as well.
I wonder why this has caused such a huge impact on the rail network services after all it was only one station that had to be closed. The delays were so long and I couldn't believe my eyes that, in London, this single incident caused this much of a trouble around and the management went as bad as it could be. It is understandable! It must have been a hard day for the railway staff and it is in fact not so easy like rearranging blocks and puzzles, to get train times and trains around here and there. Maybe I am saying this because I got to where I wanted on time whereas 90% of the passengers were having a worse day. Forget it if its a Friday but this is mid-week and it is quite annoying to go through such trouble.

One thing that is still strange and so mysterious to me is that, the same incident happened at the same station on the same date (23.09.08) last year as well. You can read it here. Happened to come across this page while I was searching if there were any sort of news out about what has happened today. Same date, same place, again a man, again in the evening.... Aaaaw feels quite spooky when I think about it.
Waiting to read the newspapers tomorrow...
My sincere sympathies to her family and friends.
Good night.

PS: Wrote this second time. Of course, not as lengthy as the first one but I just wanted to blog it now though shorter, considering that I might not be able to come to blog until get free time.
Ah, I wish I was a little more multi-tasker!!!

Thoughts of today: Weekend, Shopping and Child abuse

Southampton is boring! Not getting a fixed time to go to London this weekend due to confusions over holding a meeting for the TamilSociety of our Uni. Its very unlikely that I am gonna get to go home. Hmmm. Paeds teaching/practical sessions -so far so good. Monday will only tell me the rest and the real taste of this attachment. Anyway, I was gonna say, So'ton is really boring. I went shopping on my own yesterday and still loved it. But then shopping needs a lot of output from my handbag so i better be a good girl and cut down on my shopping frequency :) The bank statements of the past 3 months are yet to come and will tell how good I have been. But I am gonna keep myself away from the shopping centre - not now but from next week would do. lolz. I am not gonna change am I? I have to though.

We have been lectured on safeguarding children today. I got to see some pictures of children who were being abused and I was surprised that how crucial a parent can get with her/his own child of even months of age. Because a baby cannot speak for self, you are not allowed to do hit or do whatever you want. It really makes a huge psychological impact even later in life.
There are many cases where fathers and stepfathers are involved in sexually abusing their daughters. I happened to watch one such case on Jeremy Kyle Show and was absolutely gutted. The current law on child abuse in UK is, you can hit a child without leaving a mark on. If you do leave a mark, then it is abusing. What it is used to be like in the old days? Children did get hit by the teachers at school by sticks and would you call it abuse? I would not, because there was a good reason/aim behind that act. But these days, its different and most people's minds are very vulnerable and out of control that some can't tolerate a baby's cry, lose temper and end up hitting them. And older siblings may grow up watching the parents' this sort of behaviour and it becomes nomore unusual to them and they will not hesitate to do the same to their children. In early days, they hit children for a reason but now, they hit a baby for crying uncontrollably because they can't take it and why they can't take it? perhaps they have other issues to care about like work stress and so on. And they fail to think why the baby cries, all they feel like to do is make the baby stop crying that min because they don't have the patience to tolerate the cry and to find out the need. Crying is the language that babies can use to tell you if there is something wrong with them or they need something or hungry. How harsh is it to punish them for that? I am talking about babies of only months old. Most of these happen because of unwanted children, teenage pregnancy and so on. And those children finally end up in foster care after neglected and/or abused physically and emotionally. What a sad world.
Signing off with the thought that may there be only happiness, successes and a better quality of life for every unwanted and neglected child in this world.
Take care.

You all have to forgive me again guys, I will come to ur pages soon. Waiting for the weekend to catch up on every post I've missed :)

Weekend starts...

Can't believe we are already at the end of the week. Time flies so fast. I had a whole week of introduction plus recap-like sessions. We had been taught CPR today again after the first session in the 1st year. I feel like to watch someone doing CPR on a real person before I get to do it one day in a real situation. You would hear no clicks or cracks (unless the ribs break) when you do in real so I guess it will be a hard job unlike the easy peasy compressions you can give on a dummy. Anyhow, CPR is interesting and I wish I get to come across (watching) someone doing it soon.

So starting my paeds placement on Monday but I think its gonna start with some teaching first.
I am off to home this weekend. Leaving today. Having to attend a wedding tomorrow, which is something I am not really into. If I am attending a family function (except the very close ones) it is purely because of my parents forcing me. Ah well, I am ok with this one because I get a chance to spend my weekend at home :)

Have a happy weekend everyone :)
Take care, luv you all.

PS: Sorry if I am not showing up on your blogs. Please allow me some time. I will soon.

Year 3

I have started Year3 and am more scared than excited. Unlike how I usually feel when starting a new academic year -very exciting and look forward. I am now having the introductory lectures on how the attachments (placements) and the assessments are going to be as well as refreshing examination skills. From next week, I'll be starting the year3-proper. Seriously, I am kinda panicking as to how I should study, to what depth I should read before going to the attachments and so on. The first one is at Portsmouth on Paediatrics for 5 weeks. Just realising that I didn't begin this post with any kind of hi hello. Just jumped to the point straight away. Hmmm...I wonder how Dr Pratap is keeping his blog updated almost everyday between the busy schedule. I really wish I blog like him and hope that I never give up.

Previous years went with lectures and a few clinical sessions but this is totally different. The whole year is going to be attachments, traveling etc. Yes I do like traveling but not this type of having wake up so early to give myself 40-50 minutes to get to the hospital and finish late and again another hour to get back. I have cribbed about having to travel to portsmouth last year too. I don't know why they like me in particular to travel Portsmouth every year. Random allocations system hates me. Grrrr. However, in a way I am glad about hearing that Portsmouth is good at teaching Paeds. On the other hand, I have been almost petrified with comments on how harsh and insulting the consultants can get. And this is not just a news for me but I have seen this and I honestly agree with it.
As for now, I am kinda lost and don't know where to start. Everyone is so into reading and preparing for the attachments. Wish me luck.
God help.Take care all :)

T-Mobile and Trustworthiness

Have you ever got annoyed by those services that you initially thought were so "trust-worthy" when you had decided to go for?
I have been a customer of T-Mobile for almost 7 years and T-Mobile is named as the best network service in all kinds. Infact, T Mobile is good for business customers. Even though a bit more expensive compared to most other networks, they provide good services and you get no trouble at all. I've had no problems with the coverage as well. Almost everything is perfect and neat! Everyone in my family is with them.

However, today I was forced to argue with them. And I still can't believe it. The finalised bill of last month came for 100 quids (£100, rounded up). I was shocked! (You should make a note here that my line rental is only £25). And I have never used minutes or texts outside my allowance before and nor did I in last month. But the bill exceeded to a high number. I wouldn't worry about it for a single sec if I had for god sake used extra mins. Putting this in perspective I would say fine, its my fault.

But this happened because of the fault of the previous officer to whom I talked about updating my contract. It was then when things got messed up. He agreed with the date that I asked him to update my contract on. I enquired him about all the extra charges I would have to pay and it was all agreed. The last thing I asked before disconnecting the line was that he makes sure that the system changes my contract on that specific date I wanted (which is my billing date). He assured yes, all fine, I was still on my old contract till the following billing date.
But that was not true. What he did was that(although they now claim that the "system" changed it) he changed my contract immediately on the very day I had talked him to. They charged me for the mins that I had used during last month, neglecting the previous contract mins allowance but as if I was on the new one (with less mins allowance than the previous). Confusing but it makes sense to them!! Complicated but intelligent system they've got you see!! *Sighs* They blame their "system" at the end of the day for every question that they fail to answer.

After a while of explanations and arguments.......They said they were giving me 5 free international texts as a compensation, "to make me happy". Five international texts would cost me only a pound. So that should say, a pound is their max. compensation option for the money I have been charged for nothing. Whatta customer service!! I am now thinking if I should switch to a different network.(though my dad will surely oppose this as he is with them for about 10 years).
I could have figured out this fault if I logged on to my account online to double check that they didn't change it on that day instance but I didn't get the time to. But there should be no needs to chase them and check if they are doing their job properly. Why do we have to? A company is trusted only when the customers can sit back and relax without double checking or triple checking that they are doing what we asked for.

Ensure that your dealers are doing their job properly. Give some time on that. Because of today's world, if you don't do this additional service for yourself you will be fooled for paying money, I would say.
As a consumer, these days it has become your responsibility to chase the companies/marketer to ensure that they don't forget/ignore to do what they are supposed to for the payment you would have committed. Except debiting your account, which automatically happens ON TIME. Poor businessmen, they are trained enough only to butterup the customers to make them commit to their services but not enough to be more clear and specific when they talk at their customer services dept. So people, its utterly your own accountability to take care of the worthiness you expect for the earnings you turn towards consumer products. Forewarned.

Wedding bells

For Hemz with Lakshmi. At last, I am also joining the list of dedication post-ers to the to-be-wed Hemanth, who is undoubtedly one of the best blogger buddies. An honest friend one can ever be. One of the best qualities in him is that he continuously encourages and supports his friends and the importance he gives to the people around him is really appreciable. Now that he is entering the wedlock on 12th aug, and I'm sure he will lead a life rich in joy and love.

I wish both Hemu and Lakshmi, a very happy married-life.

May you find in each other
the perfect partner for life's adventure.
May your marriage be filled with happiness
exceeding their wildest dreams.
May you see again each and every day
all the qualities in the other
that make you fall in love
with each other more and more.

Here's Wishing You God's Blessing
on Your Wedding Day......
and may He always be
the heart of your marriage, the light of
your home,and the ever-present partner
in your life together!

Congratulations!

I dedicate this post to you Hemanth & Lakshmi, with the warmest wishes for the best in life as you both enter the precious moment of life, looking forward to share your future, love and care. Congratulations & All the best!
PS: It was very kind of you hemanth to invite your blogger buddies to your wedding but I apologise that I won't be able to make it due to obvious reasons. Hope you have an awesome wedding day :)

We need a teacher You are the only one

A song written with a meaningful message. And such a heart touching tune. Remains an all-time-fav of mine. Music is a healer.

New season

I cannot believe I made it back in here for the second time this year.  My new baby is playing/about to cry sort of state in the background...
